Right to Health & Sir Stirling Moss
Stirling Moss is an icon. Even just the words ‘Stirling Moss’ conjure up an immediate picture - an image of speed, excitement, daring, jet-setting and beautiful women. By the end of his career in 1962, he was at the height of his remarkable career. He was unquestionably the finest racing driver in the world, the benchmark by which lesser mortals were judged, and a charismatic sportsman, known the world over.
A hero to millions, his story is the stuff of legend. Often battling against the odds, he would brilliantly triumph against adversity. Arguably the greatest racing driver of all time, he won all the great races and many of the classics several times. He was pre-eminent in both Grand Prix cars and sports racing cars but, such was his prodigious talent, he also enjoyed successes in rallying as well.
Always full of energy, he dashed around the world when such a lifestyle was almost unheard of. He had no need of, nor time for, sleep but lived life to the absolute full. He went out with a vast number of the world’s most stunning women and was a hero to every schoolboy in the fifties and sixties. He only had to be seen with a fabulous female twice and all the papers would be reporting they were engaged. If he sneezed, the Press wrote about it. He was the Beckham of his era.
On several occasions when components on the cars he was racing broke, he had massive accidents. However, being incredibly fit, he amazed his doctors by recovering impossibly quickly and resuming racing within a remarkably short time. After one such accident which left him in a coma for weeks, he decided to retire as he felt his ability had been affected. On reflection, and with hindsight, he retired prematurely.
Since that time he has continued to maintain a frantic schedule and remains a brilliant ambassador for motor sport. In spite of being adored and respected by the public for more than 50 years, Sir Stirling remains the modest man he always was. He continues to be very popular and greatly in demand in countries such as Australia and the States, to say nothing of the UK. A few years ago, he had a major health scare with prostate cancer and the motor racing accidents have come back to haunt him with back and leg problems from time to time. Nevertheless, at 76 he still has the lifestyle of a modern superstar in his thirties. He and Lady Moss still work incredibly hard and continue to live in Mayfair, in the heart of London.
His health and his medical insurance are very important to Sir Stirling and he remained loyal to one insurer for nearly 50 years in spite of very inflated premiums. Right to Health met with Sir Stirling in 2005 and, by searching the marketplace, arranged a new policy with another leading insurer that reduced his premium by nearly half, with the bonus of slightly improved cover. Right to Health say that they will continue to review this new policy every year to make sure Sir Stirling and his family are always covered by the best current policy available.
As Sir Stirling says, “Right to Health helped me get nearly 50% off my current insurance, without any loss of cover and without any excess”.
